Londesborough Park's recent mini revival came to a shuddering halt at
league leaders Sewerby last Saturday as an indifferent batting
performance on a decent track resulted in another disappointing defeat.
Stand in skipper Rich Foster made the decision to field and lead by
example, dismissing Bearsley in his 2nd over. Foster and
fellow opener Dazzler Moody gave nothing away and picked up further
wickets to leave the hosts well behind the clock at the half way stage
on 60 for 3. Russell Robinson's boundary blasting was curtailed by
Dazzler and when opener Purvis's lengthy vigil was ended by Sam Medley
the scoreboard registered 140 for 5 with just 7 overs remaining.
However skipper Dobson, supported by Ricky Robinson and a cameo from
Acton inflicted the pain as 68 further runs were added before the tea
interval. Foster, Moody and Greg Drewery claimed 2 wickets apiece with
Dobson taking the batting accolades, accumulating 62.
The
Park's reply lacked a significant partnership, despite 7 batsmen
achieving double figures. Wickets fell at regular intervals as only the
Medley brothers and Greg Drewery (33) managed to eke out more than 20
runs. In the end the Park were dismissed for 143 and now sit just above
basement club Dringhouses in the division.
The
match ball was kindly sponsored by The Griffin. Life doesn't get much
easier this week for the Britcom sponsored Park with a trip to 2nd
placed Bolton Percy.
