The
Red Lion sponsored 2nd XI bagged yet another maximum against
local rivals Pocklington 2nd XI.
Opting to bowl first the same combination Rob Sawyer and Jonathan Croft
saw the hosts loose their first three wickets with the just 27 on the
board. Rob claimed his 4th victim with the score on 37 and
Michael Drewery chipped in to remove opener Gallagher for 18. Rob's 5th
success reduced Pocklington to 70-6 and thoughts of an early attack on
the butties. However Bradley Bold (44) and youngster Freddie Parry (21)
produced a productive partnership of 73 for the 7th wicket
before Tom Sowersby had Bold caught by Steve Dawson. Croft's hands
contributed once again to dismiss Richie Bower and provide Dan 'the man'
Howard with a wicket and Tom ended Parry's resistance as the innings
concluded on 155-9. Sam Dodd, making a rare appearance behind the
sticks, claimed two catches.
Man
in form Tim Stephenson, who evidently took a blinding catch last week
which failed to make the skipper's report for some unknown reason, lead
the reply with James Hanley posting 58 in 13 overs before Tim was
unluckily run out backing up. Tom Noble maintained the momentum with 15
and James scured a half century before succumbing to Gallagher for 55.
Sam Dodd with 32 ensured there were no further dramas as the Park eased
to a 5 wicket win with overs to spare.
The
2nds will be looking to cement their top of the table position this
weekend with a home fixture against Cawood.
