LATEST NEWS FOR THE JUNIORS
All the Club Junior coaching indoor sessions have been in full swing between February and April. The Club has already been successful in so far as several of our boys attended trials to get into two well respected coaching programmes.Firstly three of our U15s secured places on the Pathways to Excellence program - sponsored by Yorkshire County Cricket Board. They are Oliver Burley, Michael Drewery and Tom Eagling. These boys have already played for East Yorkshire Junior Taverners as well as District cricket teams. In 2004 and 2005these boys also played senior league cricket with our 2nd X1 at Londesborough Park. Additionally six of our boys secured places on the East Yorkshire Active Sports Stage 4 winter cricket programme which is sponsored by the Humber Sorts Partnership and East Yorkshire County Council. The eight week session is organised by the East Yorkshire Association of Cricket Coaches ( four of these coaches are from Londesborough Park ).The six selected boys were James Coupland ( U14 ),James Beevers ( U14 ),Rob Cawood (U15 ),Thomas Noble ( U12 ),Eddie Salmon ( U11 ) and Greg Drewery ( U10 ).Greg Drewery was also successful when on a school trip with Mount Pleasant Junior School to the Yorkshire Cricket Centre at Headingley he was spotted by one of the county coaches and has been invited to attend a trial to see if he can get into the County U11s team. Good luck Greg.
We wish all our boys from Londesborough Park well in their quests to develop in the game. Most of all we encourage everyone of them to enjoy the great opportunities they have open to them. With five junior teams now playing in the York & District Leagues we are providing everyone of our junior cricketers a real chance to take an active part in the Club. The juniors are the future of our Cricket Club.

Q.How do you get to know about it ??
A For a start via. your local school…….hows that !!
Over this forthcoming summer we propose to repeat the very
successful school visits initiative from last year. Our qualified coaches
visited the following local schools, introducing the children to some of the
skills of cricket and also experiencing the fun of Kwik Cricket.
St Mary,s R..C. School –Market Weighton
Mount Pleasant School – Market Weighton
Senior Secondary School – Market Weighton
Infants School –Market Weighton
Junior School –Holme on Spalding Moor
The purpose of these sessions is to support the E.C.B. (English Cricket Board) and their commitment of bringing cricket back into schools and also for us to introduce our local cricket club L.P.C.C. and showing the school children what is available to them. Teams from these schools will be invited in July to come to Londesborough Park ground to compete in a fun Kwik Cricket Tournament. Last year we all enjoyed a great afternoon putting into practice some of the skills learnt from the visits and generally having a fun time with the Kwik Cricket all action game - we look forward to seeing you again.

New for 2006 is entry for our U9s into the York Junior League. Already practice sessions are proving very challenging with every player having to bowl at least one over. With new coaches coming on board we are very pleased with the response from all involved.

On Friday evenings from 5.30 p.m. to 7 .00 p.m.—Intro to cricket with Fun Sessions down on the ground. We have enjoyed a wonderful response to these evenings (with parents support) with up to 35 keen children attending .
Under 13s – this is where the children are introduced to competitive cricket with net sessions on Friday evenings and weekly fixtures against teams in the Hull & East Riding area.
Under 15s – a progression from Under 13s and preparation for those ready to start senior club cricket – the nets are held Sat. a.m. with competitive weekly fixtures against Hull & East Riding Teams.
